Three Awards for TUI Travel at World Ceremony! - 09/11/2009

TUI Travel won three prestigious awards at the World Travel Awards Grand Final ceremony held last night at the Grosvenor House in London’s Mayfair.

Will Waggott, Commercial Director, TUI Travel PLC, collected the World's Leading Tour Operator award. Jane Ashton, Head of Sustainable Development, TUI Travel PLC, collected the World's Responsible Tourism Award and Alun Williams, e-commerce Director, TUI UK & Ireland, collected the Worlds Leading Tour Operator Website award for thomson.co.uk.

Peter Long, Chief Executive, TUI Travel PLC commented: “These awards are a superb recognition of TUI Travel’s achievements as a tour operator, in sustainable development and for our leading UK brand website on an international stage. I congratulate all of our colleagues for their contributions in helping us win these awards and thank the travel industry for voting for us”.

The World Travel Awards described by the Wall Street Journal as the 'Oscars' of the global travel and tourism industry, revealed who are the 'best of the best' in the world. The Grand Final ceremony concluded the 2009 regional tour which has taken the World Travel Awards to Dubai, South Africa, Mexico and Portugal, celebrating the achievements of the leading lights of the travel and tourism industry. Nominations are based on the previous year's voting and recommendations made by travel, tourism and hospitality industry professionals. Over 900 travel professionals attended the Grand Final Ceremony. Over 167,000 travel professionals across the globe voted this year.
